Ok, this is about gasoline for our Mosquitos, either in your tanks, or your 5 gallon cans.
Don't use old gas they say. Alright, I'll buy that, but what is to "old", and does oil
help or hurt this "aging" process?
So, how long do you guys keep fuel in the tanks? 2 weeks? 4 weeks? 2 months?
I've heard that it turns absolutely worthless in a year, but I wouldn't use year old gasoline in my weed-eater, much less my AIR.
Do you have a rule of thumb, and after that thumb has run out, you empty the fuel tanks and refill with fresh?

Hi, first thing to know is that gasoline with ethanol added is hygroscopic ( it absorbs h20 like a sponge) so an air tight container is a necessity for any long term storage ....3 or 4 months max. The fuel tanks on the machine are not air tight because they need a vent to allow air to replace the fuel as it is used. If you are in a climate with higher humidity it might not take very long at all to get to much h20 in the fuel , and of course you cant really sump the tanks either when alcohol is present. Gasoline without alcohol in it is way more stable in storage and does not absorb h20, instead if any water does get in it simply settles to the bottom of the tank or container. Real gasoline stored properly should be good for up to a year or so.

Hi Texas Rob

Lots of fixed wing ultralight guys and gyroplane operators use the Mr Funnel and swear by it. I purchased one for use with my heli but have not used it yet.

Google it and check out the demo video. It is amazing because it will filter out everything, including water from gasoline.

Disclaimer/Warning!!! This is just my opinion, you may not like it and then it would be just a waste of your money!

Respectfully

Jerry Cosper

WARNING! WARNING! Will Robinson!

A Mister Funnel funnel will NOT stop water. I'll dig up a photo for you.Or you can try it for yourself.
The funnel in the filter was a few years old-at what life does it let the water seep through???

I have in the past drained premix from my Drifter and burnt it in the Harley. Harleys are patient old beasts and as expected it was happy enough.
But when I looked at the rear tyre (ok, tire!) there was my oil! Very dangerous.

The mr funnel will not filter the oil out of a premix. This is one of the advantages of using the filter for 2 cycle engines.

I have used the Mr Funnel to filter some gas that was about a year old to run in a 4 cycle briggs water pump engine. This can had been stored outside all year before I filtered it.

The engine ran strong on the filtered gas.

My plan is to have fresh gas on hand and also filter it. Why take a chance when your safety is on the line?
