Part 103 legal, or go with a Mosquito AIR like a lot of us have.
At one time John was considering a rope start for the AIR, but since you have to have a battery anyway I doubt that you'd lose very much weight. Removing the actual starter would take some away, but then you have to add back the rope starting mechanism so it may even out. I'm a bit surprised that you're wanting to do this. In one of your beginning posts you said "and the fatalities are starting to happen". That may not be the exact quote but that was the essence of the statement. Also it was discussed in detail by the designer/builder that modifications were not a good idea, and to run them by him should you want to modify something. Here you are completely modifying the entire
helicopter, trying to make it into something it can't be. I realize you're trying to get just the machine you want, but again the obvious choice is to add floats to the XE, simple as that.

Location: Cartersville, GA | Yeah I agree... The first thing people want to do is change something....
I'm just basically thinking outloud ..
If I get a Mos.. I WILL build it just as engineered.
I just was making a point that ADDING fancy stuff is the wrong path, that
if anything, try to simplify.
A 300 pound helicopter has no business gainig 50 pounds because the builder added a bunch
of things you'd see on a EuroCopter!
